The goal of the academic program at Kensington School is to ensure that all students have access to high-quality curriculum and instruction in order to meet or exceed the goals outlined in the state’s academic content standards.  All of California’s content standards provide expectations for what students should know and be able to do at each grade level.  California’s standards set high expectations for all students, and our experienced teaching staff uses the standards to guide classroom instruction in English language arts, mathematics, history-social science, science, visual and performing arts, and physical education.  Information about the California Standards and the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) is available on the California Department of Education website.  A copy of the grade-level standards is provided to each family at Back-to-School Night in the fall.  In addition, your child’s teacher can give specific information about the standards that should be mastered at each grade level.  The standards-based report card is another source of information about the standards for each grade level.
