What is the Kensington Education Foundation?
The Kensington Education Foundation (KEF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 1983, with a mission of delivering academic enrichment programs to Hilltop students. The organization supports educational programs that supplement and extend the academic offerings funded by our school district. The KEF also provides financial resources to help Hilltop School mitigate the impact of changes to academic funding at the state and district level.
The KEF’s main academic programs include the following:
- Science Lab
- Read Naturally
- Math Enrichment
- Math Olympiad
- Computer Lab
- SPARK Physical Education
- Primary Music & Rhythm
- Band Supplement Program
- Running Club
The KEF also provides funding for supplemental classroom supplies, substitutes during parent-teacher conferences, additional teacher preparation time, and a discretionary grant to each teacher for curriculum enhancement and development. Each year the KEF board may additionally identify specific school projects to receive special one-time funding.
The KEF is run by an all-volunteer board elected annually by KEF members. The board includes fifteen current parents, the school principal, a teacher representative, and representatives of the Dads’ Club, the PTA, and the School Site Council. Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Tuesday of each month of the school year at 7:45pm in the staff lounge at Hilltop School.
