Thanks so much to all the parents who were able to attend Back To School Night last night. We reviewed a lot of information about our curriculum, Open Court reading program, daily schedule and Second Step program. Please, if you were not able to sign up for a parent-teacher conference, contact me to schedule a time as available slots are filling up fast.

Room 16- April showers bring may flowers

Apparently, that ditty was made by someone who didn't live in the Bay area.Spring is in full bloom and we in Room 16 are enjoying it. The big news is that the wetland reports and dioramas are fabulous, we'll soon be studying astronomy, and state testing is upon us. Please refer to the April newsletter for a full update on the curriculum. We need drivers to send in the proper documentation for our last two field trips of the year ASAP.Please keep sending fresh fruit or vegetable snacks for your children. They are growing and they are hungry!

Room 7 - 100s Day

2008-02-08

The first graders in Room 7 reached an important goal on February 7...the 100th day of school !  We started the morning doing a variety of activities, all for 100 seconds.  Then we strung 100 Fruit Loops onto fishing line to wear as edible leis.  After lunch, Room 7's students rotated through the four other first grade classes to participate in each teacher's activities.  The consensus for the day was that it was FUN, FUN, FUN !   WHEW ! ! !

Room 7 - Lindsay Wildlife Museum Trip - March 18

2008-03-21

On Tuesday, March 18, the first-grade classes went on a study trip to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek.  Room seven's students learned about many wild animals and their habitats.  The live animals they have are especially interesting, from raptors to reptiles to a live mountain lion.  Our docent, Joy, was terrific with the students.  Everyone, including parents, had a great day!

Stone Soup

Stations today were successful thanks to all the parent volunteers that came to lend a hand. The stone soup smelled delicious and tasted great too! Kids had brought in vegetables. They enjoyed drawing them, writing about them, chopping them for soup and then eating the soup. In the afternoon, first graders discussed story plots, worked on writing interesting sentences using adjectives and worked with the base ten blocks.

Keep well and healthy!
