Principal’s message Nov 18, 2021

Hello Kensington Community,

Please remember that tomorrow, Friday, November 19th is a minimum day 🙂

Kinder dismissal: 1:30 (as always)

Grades 1-3 dismissal: 1:45

Grades 4-6 dismissal: 2:05

Also, don’t forget to look in your student’s backpack for their report card on Friday.

Report cards will follow a narrative format.

Huge thank you to our teachers for their skilled work in preparing these reports to reflect student strengths and progress towards grade-level standards.

There is no school all of next week – Enjoy a delightful, delicious, and safe time with loved ones!

A few more updates:

  • This Friday November 19th is Kensington Black Friday- an opportunity to show support of and solidarity with the black community. Have fun with added accessories or clothing that reflect your support of our black students, families and community members!
  • The Food and Toy Drives are in full swing! Please donate and, even better, turn the donation into a “teachable moment” for your student as to the importance of giving to others in our community. (Another fun idea along this vein is the practice of random acts of kindness – it is remarkable to hear the ideas our young people have for these acts – letters to others, small handmade gifts, painted rocks with messages of kindness for the neighborhood, etc. A beautiful practice to cultivate!)
  • Reminder: Students must be signed in and out of the front office if they leave or arrive during the school day (Note: If your child arrives to school late, but still before 9:00 am they are okay to go straight to class without you signing them in – but please try to have them arrive to school on time!)
  • Please please please observe the traffic patterns for the Kensington School neighborhood – drive slowly, carefully and respectfully.

When you arrive to drop off or pick up your child pull all the way up, and over towards the curb as well, so we can maintain two lanes of traffic to ensure maximum traffic flow.

At pick up: Your student must wait for you on the yellow safety walkway until you arrive there.  If they walk on the blacktop towards your car, they must have an adult escort them to your car.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Finally, I wish to express deep gratitude for the myriad ways this community shows up to care for one another. On behalf of the students and the staff of the school, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and understanding over these past months – we have all worked together towards the common goal of creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, engaging and fun learning environment for all students.

Looking forward to the months ahead!

All the best to you and yours,
